No matter the circumstances we find ourselves in, ask, with Jesus, 'to what purpose am I left here?'
We welcome to our shores, people from far and wide, to enjoy the sun, sand and sea.
These holidays exist because Jesus was lifted on a cross, and we will do well not to forget that. One of the words Jesus spoke from the cross is ‘Eloi, Eloi, Lama Sabachthani’ best translated as ‘Almighty God, Almighty God, Why Leave?’
For Jesus the question was ‘Why am I left on a cross?’
For those around the cross the question was ‘Why are we left at the foot of the cross?’
For every one of us the question is: ‘Why are we left in this place?’
No matter the circumstances we find ourselves in, ask, with Jesus, ‘to what purpose am I left here?’
