Jolly walker takes a ‘walk’ down memory lane

This time it's a different kind of walking for Darrel Day, the South Coast's former jolly walker.

Former jolly walker, Darrell Day (86) is back from Canada.

South Coasters will remember Darrell who has been on the road since 1979 – running, walking and then, waving to passing motorists at the Oribi Plaza traffic lights in the mornings.

Darrell moved to Canada to be with his daughter, Nicky but couldn’t handle the cold weather and has moved back to the sunny South Coast.
He doesn’t know if he will be back on the road again, but he has however found a book of newspaper clippings which has sparked some good old memories of his football days in Empangeni.

He was in his 30s and was captain of the team, Empangeni Mill Football.

He would love to reconnect with any of the players of this team and can be contacted on 082 6761326.
