DA in Ugu sends 53 delegates to provincial congress
DA Congress aims to run smoothly for the betterment of the people of KZN.
The DA in KZN is holding its very crucial elective congress at the Durban ICC this Saturday, and the Ugu Constituency will be sending over 53 delegates.
The purpose of the congress is not just to elect leadership, but to fine tune the DA’s strategy to get to Natalia Building in 2024.
Ugu Constituency, deputy chairperson and spokesperson, Leonard Ngcobo said for them it’s not about the DA, but the people of KZN who continue to suffer immensely under the government.
Nominations for leadership positions at the upcoming Provincial Congress 2023 were vetted and have closed, and the DA has confirmed candidates for each respective position.
Contesting for the provincial leadership position are Bongumusa Cyril Nhlabathi and the current leader Francoise Rodgers, and for deputy are Mzamo Billy and Sthembiso Ngema. Ngema is the current deputy chairperson for the DA in KZN, while Billy is an eThekwini deputy caucus leader.
The most contested seat of deputy provincial chairperson are contested by Shenna Kajee, Veronicah Mabika, Fikile Mdluli, Martin Meyer, Nontobeko Ngubane, Elma Rabe, Freddy Raseote, Hlengiwe Shozi, Bradley Singh and Hannah Winkler.
The provincial chairperson seat will be between Dianne Kohler Barnard and Dean Macpherson.
The Provincial DA youth chairperson seat is uncontested and Sthabelo Ntshangase is the nominated candidate for the position, his deputy chair in administration seat is also not contested and Sandile Mthembu is the nominee.
The deputy chairperson: Training and Development is also not contested and Njabulo Khumalo is the nominee, while Lungiswa Xulu is nominated for the deputy DAY chair: Recruitment and Campaigns position, which is also not contested.
The Provincial Democratic Alliance Women’s Network (DAWN) chairperson nominees are Shehana Kajee and Remona McKenzie and for deputy are Yugeshnie Reddy, Lethukuthula Sithole and Zoe Solomon.
Running for KZN DAWN as additional members and also not contested are Patience Kok, Suraya Mahomed, Yugeshnie Reddy and Zoe Solomo.
Ngcobo wished all the nominees and the party a successful congress ahead.
