Car radio licence letter is fake news – SABC

The South African broadcaster has released a statement that the introduction of car licences is not true.

A letter circulating on social media has been denounced as fake by the South African Broadcasting Commission (SABC).

A tweet from SABC earlier today read: The SABC would like to alert the public of a fake media statement which is circulating on various social media platforms titled: INTRODUCTION OF RADIO LICENCES AS PART SABC’S DRIVE TO GENERATE REVENUE.

The SABC is the national public broadcaster in South Africa, and provides 19 radio stations (AM/FM) and five television channels to the general public.
