Kiki loses battle with cancer
She inspired many with the tenacity with which she fought this disease, all the while keeping a smile on her face.
Cali Donna ‘Kiki’ Matthee (28) of Uvongo died peacefully surrounded by her close family last Friday morning.
She had been fighting breast cancer since November 2020 and was told that she was in remission in September 2022.
Unfortunately, her breast cancer metastasized and returned very aggressively in December 2022.
Shane Woolley, her partner said Kiki was well-known in the community as #CaliCancerWarrior who never gave up fighting until her last breath.
“She was a Margate Round Table No 46 member, and assisted in many projects, including their annual golf day, blood drive and the Oppi Kus Musiekfees. Through her social media posts and meetings with other patients along her journey, she inspired many with the tenacity with which she fought this disease, all the while keeping a smile on her face,” said Wolley.
He said she was one who always made herself available to assist other cancer patients, be it by offering them a comforting word or hand or explaining the process they would be going through.
She will be dearly missed by all those whose hearts she touched. She is survived by her parents Robert and Cathy Matthee, brother Travis and niece Skylar.
