Bhangra bash fundraiser for Polish exchange trip
St Martin's de Porres School has been participating in the exchange programme for over 20 years.
St Martin’s de Porres School in Port Shepstone invites the community to its Bhangra Extravaganza on Saturday, May 20, to raise funds for its Polish exchange programme.
Five educators have been invited to visit Poland from June 1 to 10.
Programme coordinator, Sister Staff Dlamini said the school has been participating in the exchange programme for over 20 years, and usually learners and educators go on the trip however, with the recent Russia-Ukraine war, learners will not be part of the trip this time around.
“Poland is one of the advanced countries for special needs, and the programme equips the learners and educators a lot. We have had other fundraisers towards this initiative, however, additional funds are still needed.
“The Bhangra night is one of great excitement as it will consist of many different activities. The evening starts at St Martin’s at 18:00 to 21:00 with a show and performance by the Sheppie Nagara group and KC’s Dance school, thereafter the guests will enjoy some dancing and music,” Sister Dlamini added.
She said as part of the day’s programme food stalls will be setup, including a wine and cheese stand, savouries and many other delicious items.
“We will also have raffles, lucky draws and an auction for a two-night stay at the Wild Coast Sun Resort. We will hold a best dressed competition and any attire is welcome.
“Stallholders can contact the school anytime before May 19 to book, as we still have space for anyone wanting to sell traditional outfits, arts and crafts, etc.,” Dlamini said.
Tickets for the Bhangra are R100 each and entry to the stalls is free of charge.
Sister Dlamini thanks the community for its loyal support to the school and its programmes.
“We are looking forward to hosting you,”she said. For more information WhatsApp Kubashnee on 078 212 2525 or call Pratisha on 079 5248287 or visit school.
