Hiking, picnicking at Nyandezulu waterfall

The most challenging activity of the day was walking down a hill for about 45 minutes to the bottom of the waterfall.

South Coast Tourism and Investment Enterprise (SCTIE) organised a Nyandezulu Experience media trip, comprising hiking and visiting a waterfall, near Izotsha last Friday.

The trip started at Zethu Mthiyane’s homestay where she prepared amadumbe, sweet potatoes, mealies and homemade granadilla juice from trees in her garden.

She also makes her own chilli sauce that paired well with the amadumbe.
The group then moved to Ntantane mountain, which is not too challenging. Once you get to the top, it’s flat and has an amazing view.

From the mountain, one can see the top to the bottom of the Nyandezulu waterfall. Hikers took photos and walked around the mountain viewing the green landscape of Nyandezulu.
Then it was on to the most challenging activity of the day – walking down a hill for about 45 minutes, to the bottom of the waterfall.

If the weather permitted, it would have been a great day for a swim, but it was windy and the water was freezing cold.
However, it did not stop Thabi Jali from SCTIE going for a swim. She dived right in and enjoyed the experience.
After taking loads of photographs and walking around, it was time for a picnic lunch next to the waterfall.

To complete the experience, the group walked back up the hill for about an hour and headed home, after a great day out in nature.
