DA court case continues

The judgment was reserved at the Durban High Court last Thursday.

Earlier this year, the Democratic Alliance from KZN had an urgent court application brought against Umdoni’s municipal manager and the council at the Durban High Court.

“Since November 2022 the DA has sought to have our EXCO seat rightly allocated to the party after the municipal manager decided otherwise and allowed the ANC to occupy the seat on full pay, after a former DA councillor defected to the ANC through a by-election,” said Dean Macpherson, MP – DA KZN Chairperson.

“The councillor has been on a full executive committee councillor’s salary ever since.”
The DA returned to court last week and members stated that they are pleased with the progress so far.
The judgment was reserved at the Durban High Court last Thursday.

“The DA is confident in our case which is why we seek a personal costs order against the municipal manager because she was repeatedly warned against her actions,” added Macpherson.
Umdoni Municipality was contacted for comment on the matter. No feedback had been received at the time of going to print.
