Two people were also fined for selling liquor without a licence during the operation, and the alcohol was confiscated.

Members of Saps Harding were performing crime prevention duties when information was received of an illegal firearm yesterday (November 2).

Members were performing stop and search operations at a liquor outlet in Murchison Street when the man was arrested.

Two people were also fined for selling liquor without a licence.

Further investigation will be conducted to locate a possible firearm for the ammunition.

He said two people were also fined for selling liquor without a licence during the operation and the alcohol was confiscated.

Police also took into possession dagga which was found abandoned near a police roadblock near Weza.

Capt Francis said police also confiscated a number of knives in the stop and search operations as this often leads to assault and possible murder when one is under the influence of substances.
