Police officers honoured for long service
Major General Sethenya Nxamagele went on to state what a privilege it is to be enlisted with Saps.
The 2023 Saps Ugu District Medal Parade was held at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre recently.
Members were honoured with medals for 10, 20 and 30 years’ of unwavering dedicated service to the organisation.
District Commander – Visible Policing Brigadier Anton Kapp welcomed all and provided a glimpse into the upcoming events.
Members who received 10 year medals were called first to the podium where they were congratulated by the Ugu District Commissioner, Major General Sethenya Nxamagele and her entourage.
Members who had served for 20 and 30 years eagerly awaited their turn at the podium to finally hold tangible evidence in their hand of their long service and dedicated support to the Saps.
“A message of support from the Ugu District Municipality’s councillor Moosa Manyoni reminded all of the vital role the police play in safeguarding the country and our immediate community,” added Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis.
Major General Sethenya Nxamagele went on to state what a privilege it is to be enlisted with Saps.
“Awarding her members with long service medals was indeed an honor in recognising the endless sacrifices that have been made for the safety and security of the people,” said Francis.
Nxamagele also thanked the families for supporting the members and sharing them with the organisation. Members who had passed away were honoured on the day as well. A family member received their medal and were given words of comfort and appreciation for all that the late member gave to Saps.
