Retired policeman loses cancer battle
His daughter Lungi Mfeka described him as a gentleman and that he loved his family wholeheartedly.

Retired police spokesperson for the Margate area, Captain Gerald Mfeka (65) lost his battle with cancer in the Port Shepstone Regional Hospital last Thursday.
Well-known in policing circles and the community, Mfeka was described by many as a humble man with a calm nature and sincere smile.
He retired from the police in 2018 after he had served the organisation for 24 years, working in various fields such as crime prevention, human resource management and media relations.
He was born and bred in St Faith’s, Ezitendeni area.
His eldest daughter Lungi Mfeka said her father was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
“The doctors tried everything and they did their best to help him. He underwent chemotherapy too, but it was just a bit too late.”
She described him as a gentleman and that he loved his family wholeheartedly.
“He was a humble and a respectful man.”
She said her father loved clothes and shopping and would drive a long distance just to buy himself nice clothes.
“There is a lot I could say about my father, he loved us and we loved him. He was everything to us, he was a perfect father.”
Mfeka is survived by his wife Sibongile, their four children and nine grandchildren.
Rest well Captain Mfeka.
