ANC’s Duma says no conflict with civic body
During a talk Siboniso Duma emphasised that there was no conflict between ANC KZN and Sanco.
The ANC’s Provincial Chairperson, Siboniso Duma met with party members in the Tolomane Mnyayiza Region recently.
He said he was on the South Coast to celebrate the victory of the by-election in ward 23 in Bhoboyi, and to wish his comrades well over the festive season.
The session took place at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre and was attended by members of the South African Communist Party, Cosatu, South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco), ANC Women’s League, uMkhonto weSizwe Liberation War Veterans, ANC Youth League, South African Students Congress, Young Communist League and Congress of South African Students.
During his talk he emphasised that there was no conflict between ANC KZN and Sanco.
“There are no contradictions. Sanco is an important component of the alliance and we don’t believe that it is in our interests to respond to issues they raised in a media briefing.”
Sanco had held a media briefing addressing an announcement made by former president Jacob Zuma.
Zuma had announced a new political party, Mkhonto Wesizwe (MK) and said he will not vote for the ANC in the next national election, but will remain a loyal member.
Sanco provincial secretary Sizwe Cele, said at the briefing, Duma and KZN secretary Bheki Mtolo bullied them into taking action against Zuma.
The former president still remains chairperson of Sanco in KZN.
Duma pointed out that at any given moment, collectively or as individuals they are expected to channel their energies to build on the foundation laid by the pioneers of the mass democratic revolution.
