Social grant beneficiaries bemoan non-payment
Beneficiaries are urged to submit a certified copy of their ID together with a three-month bank statement to the nearest SASSA office.
Thousands of Sassa beneficiaries have not received their social grants this month.
The Herald received numerous calls from beneficiaries on Monday this week, who feared that they will be unable to send their children back to school next week.
According to Sassa spokesperson, Sandy Godlwana, the glitches had to do with beneficiaries failing to send verification of their banking details.
Most of those who did not receive their January payments had failed to verify their banking details, however they are urged to submit a certified copy of their ID together with a three-month bank statement to the nearest Sassa office.
Godlwana also encouraged those affected to visit their nearest Sassa office to check the reason for non-payment. It was also reported that those who did not receive their January payment will receive double payments in February.
