Non-profit invests in primary school libraries

The NPC and NPC Community Trust have invested their resources in renovating and handing over primary school libraries to three local tribal authorities.
The NPC Community Trust which is a non-profit organisation partnered with NPC to renovate and hand over the libraries based in rural areas of three amakhosi.
The benefiting amakhosi are Oshabeni, KwaNdwalane and KwaNyuswa tribal councils.
The two organisations visited Cophela Primary School in Oshabeni last Friday. They met Inkosi Sithembiso Lushaba at the school premises and other Oshabeni tribal council members.

One of the trustees, Thabani Gumede, said they were present to open and handover a newly renovated library to learners to do their research and read books, to enhance their primary school education.
“We prioritise investment in education because we believe it is the most important weapon to change and improve the service delivery challenges such as load shedding, water shedding and gaping potholes. Our government has failed to prioritise education to fix these infrastructure problems. Primary education is the foundation for educated and skilled personnel to fix these service delivery issues, that is why we choose to invest in education,” said Gumede.
Inkosi Lushaba thanked NPC and NPC Community Trust for their investment, renovation and the handover of a state-of-the-art library to Cophela Primary.
“On behalf of Oshabeni, I am grateful for the handover of this newly renovated school library. I love education so much. I want my people to be educated. I want to work with educated professionals to develop my nation, even though I did not get highly educated,” said Lushaba.

The NPC Community Trust then went to Insingizi Primary School in Betania of KwaNdwalane Tribal Council on Tuesday last week, to handover another state-of-the-art library.
The event was attended by NPC management, KwaNdwalane tribal council, NPC community trustees, Ugu Department of Education officials, teachers and the school’s governing board members.
A newly renovated library was handed to Mshiyeni Primary School at KwaNyuswa on Thursday.
The libraries will be monitored by the Ugu Education Library Services and will have committees comprising teachers, learners, SGB and education officials, to ensure effective use of the facilities.
