Hospice’s Valentine’s lunch raises whopping R11 000
The South Coast community turned up to support South Coast Hospice's Valentine's Day fundraiser.
South Coast Hospice hosted its annual Valentine’s Day luncheon at Umdlalo Luxury Lodge & Venue recently.
In maintaining its core value of ‘I am a South Coast Hospice Superhero’, this event was important as the organisation continues to raise much-needed funds, to ensure its sustainability.
The CEO, Diane van Dyk, expressed her gratitude and noted that this was the largest Valentine’s event to date.
“We have a wonderful community with the spirit of giving and with this support, we are determined that hospice will continue to serve the community. The closing of the Kingfisher In Patient Unit has been a great loss. However, the home-based team under the guidance of Sr Dina Thorncroft and psychosocial counsellor Karin Warman ensure that patients and their families are cared for in their own homes”.
Pranisha Bhooden of the South Coast Mammography Centre then gave the primarily female audience an in-depth talk on the importance of early detection of breast cancer.
Guests openly embraced the ‘fabulously feminine’ attire. Fundraising manager BT King said 90 guests attended the event which raised R11,770 for the ongoing care and support of patients and their families.

* Hospice Hero Golf Day at Southbroom Golf Club on March 23.
Also, look out for the upcoming Mother’s Day event on April 11.
