Last year, the SPCA received a complaint of animals abandoned and living in shocking conditions on a property in Marburg.
A warrant was obtained by Inspector Jacob Maduna and the society’s inspectorate team proceeded to the property in question.
On arrival, the animals were found living in appalling conditions resulting in all of them being seized and brought to the SPCA for safekeeping.
A case was opened with the police, and the owner of the dog was charged under the Animal Protection Act 71 of 1962.
Davis thanked the community for reporting animal cruelty.
He added that when reporting a case of cruelty, as much information and evidence must be provided to assist the inspectorate in carrying out an investigation.
Animal cruelty can be reported anonymously on 083 2226355 or 039 312 0962.
