Holi joy and fun

It was certainly a vibrant display of culture and community spirit at this year's Holi celebrations.

Both young and old were covered in colourful powder during the annual Hindu celebration, Holi observed at the Shree Hanuman Sanathan Dharma Sabha Mandir and Shree Raam Narayan Temple Society (Marburg) recently.

Known as the festival of colours, Holi is celebrated on the last full moon in the lunar month of Phalhuna. Locals celebrated with the lighting of bonfires, dancing to traditional music and throwing colourful powder.

A highlight of the celebration was the lighting of the bonfire. As the flames leaped high, a sense of unity and spirituality permeated the atmosphere. Trustees at both temples said the public turnout was excellent, and everyone enjoyed the festival. Devotees joyfully smeared each other with vibrant colours, such as bright red, blue, yellow and pink.
