HPCSA hearing resumes for Covid-19 doc
Dr Shankara Chetty's first appearance was on May 17, 2023.
The case of Port Edward doctor, Shankara Chetty, who was called to an inquiry with the Health Professions Council of South Africa, will resume on Monday, April 8.
Chetty spoke out about the risks of COVID-19 vaccinations and was charged for not doing what was best for his patients, not following protocols and spreading misinformation.
His first appearance was on May 17, 2023.
Speaking to the Herald this week, Dr Chetty said he is currently challenging the jurisdiction of the council to limit his constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech when it was clearly his opinion.
“I would like a conflict of interest (COI) declared by all. The prosecution speaks on behalf of the public, so public access must be allowed. I place on record my objection to the bias inherent in any judgement, based on the vaccine status of those adjudicating, seeing that the vaccine was enforced using propaganda and prejudice.”
He said this prejudice would surely influence any decisions going forward and needs to be addressed, to eliminate any confounding bias and unfair outcomes.
