If you are interested in indigenous herbs, Chris Viljoen will be giving a talk at the Ivungu River Conservancy this Saturday, April 13 at 14:30.

A ‘talk, walk and unwind’ will be held at the Ivungu Reserve’s picnic site (off Edward Drive at the Uvongo tennis courts).

Viljoen is a herbalist, naturopath, conservationist and entrepreneur.

He is particularly passionate about the research involved in using herbs to help treat rare and difficult diseases.
Viljoen will be speaking about his research and practical involvement in projects regarding the value of using, growing and sustainably selling indigenous herbs.

He has a profound interest in indigenous herbs, their growing habits and their benefit to people, animals, the environment and sustainable incomes.

He is involved in cultivating these herbs to the point where they become a commercially viable crop which can be used to medically help with rare and difficult diseases.

Viljoen works closely with Nyangas and Sangomas in the area.

He helps in facilitating and teaching people how to ethically and sustainably harvest these herbs.
After the talk, those who would like to stay are welcome to join in a walk along the beautiful Ivungu River trail, less than an hour’s walk.

Bring your own drinks, a chair or a blanket. Entrance is free, and donations to the conservancy are welcome.
