Bheki Cele officially hands over newly built Gamalakhe police station [WATCH]

The station is equipped with adequate staff members and other resources needed to fight crime.

Gamalakhe Police Station, which serves more than 30 000 people in the area, has officially opened its doors as of yesterday (Monday).
Police ministry spokesperson, Lirandzu Themba, said the station is well capacitated with adequate staff members and other resources needed to fight crime and ensure all people in and around this policing precinct are, and feel, safe.

The Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele, and the management of Saps, led by national police commissioner General Fannie Masemola and the acting provincial commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal, Major General Phumelele Makoba, official handed over the station.

Themba said the police station will ensure the community of Gamalakhe has peace of mind, knowing that a fully-fledged station is serving them within close proximity.
“Bringing policing services closer to communities,” she said.
“One of the fundamental goals of the Saps is to improve safety in communities by putting required resources in place and partnering with communities to fight crime.”
