Minister Naledi Pandor visits South Coast
She urged law enforcement and police to work together and arrest all those who steal from the government.
As the national and provincial elections draw close, campaigning has started.
The minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Dr Naledi Pandor, visited the South Coast recently, where she addressed locals at the Marburg Secondary Hall on matters of African progress as well as issues of local, regional and international importance.
She stated that she was speaking on behalf of the ANC, which is and remains a premier liberation movement. She highlighted aspects of the ANC’s manifesto and said that while there have been many problems with the political party, many failings and mistakes, but also good.
She urged law enforcement and police to work together and arrest all those who steal from the government. She added that she had never stolen or betrayed the government, and those that have stolen have all been arrested for corruption.
“If the ANC wins the election, they must put South Africa to work as people need to earn a livelihood. We need to grow industries, as well as more entrepreneurs. We must partner largely and effectively with the African continent in investing in infrastructure and minerals. One item that affects everyone is the high cost of living in the country.”
Pandor was deeply sorry that the South Coast had experienced such terrible water services. She stressed that local government must have better local representatives so that they know that they serve the people and not themselves.
She called on municipalities to effectively provide better water infrastructure so that people have access to water. She called for a better transport system, healthcare, better housing and crime-fighting vital to government and all its people.
On the international front, she said that they need a united South Africa that cooperates with other countries to maintain peace and the reason Israel has been taken to the International Court.
“We are not happy if the people of Palestine are not happy. We need an end to the killings of the Palestinian people. We will stand with the people of Palestine until there is peace,” said Pandor.
