Truck drivers down tools for nationwide shutdown strike on Monday, May 20

The All Truck Drivers Forum and Allied South Africa (ATDF-ASA) plan to embark on a nationwide shutdown from the early hours of Monday (May 20) morning.

WHY IS THE STRIKE TAKING PLACE? 

According to a poster, currently being circulated, it says: ATDF-ASA wants no foreigners in the trucking industry. It further says it is fed up with the South African government and their empty promises, and it plans to down tools until the government meet their demands.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

  • Everyone is urged to exercise caution while using the roads and promptly report any suspicious truck activity, protests, or any incidents that may jeopardize the safety of fellow road users.
