Taxi strike July 29: Roads are safe and clear

RNM said law enforcement is monitoring all the roads in the district.

All roads in and around the South Coast area are clear for traveling at the moment.

That’s in connection with the planned strike for today and the meeting of taxi associations at Marburg Sports Ground at 09:00.

Ray Nkonyeni Municipality’s spokesperson Simon April said there have been no reports of any roads being blocked off in any way.

“Law enforcement is monitoring all the roads in the district,” he said.

Public transport is still not available to commuters.

The taxi associations have allegedly been unhappy over certain things with regards to Operation Shanela, including the issuing of permits.

April said the Department of Transport, as custodians of public transport, had been made aware of the situation.
