On arrival, emergency services found carnage across the north and southbound lanes.

An accident claimed the lives of four people on the N2, between the Umtentweni tollgate and Umzumbe, yesterday afternoon.

Gavin Black from Mi7 said it was apparently a head-on collision involving two light motor vehicles and a light truck and trailer.

“Four people were declared dead on the scene. One person was seriously injured and transported to hospital. Two others had minor injuries,” he confirmed.

“On arrival, emergency services found carnage across both the north and south bound lanes,” he said.

Other emergency services on the scene who assisted Mi7 were Trauma 911, EMRS, Ray Nkonyeni Municipality Fire and Rescue Department, Saps and RTI.
