Pitbull attacks pensioner

It was a narrow escape for the Albersville man and his dog.

A 79-year-old man is lucky to be alive after he was attacked by a pitbull in Albersville recently.

At the time, Kista Moodley was visiting his daughter and had taken along his Jack Russell, which was on a leash.

“We got out of the car and walked towards my daughter’s house. I saw the pitbull running towards us; I grabbed my dog and just managed to place her inside the car. Luckily, I had the driver’s widow open.”

While Moodley was blocking the open window, the pitbull turned on him.

“It bit me on both legs. It was maniacal, and it wanted to enter the car to get to my dog. My daughter heard the commotion and came out. I told her to enter the car from the passenger side and to pass me a stick. I hit the pitbull over the head with the stick; however, it continued to run around the car to get to my dog, but then it went back to its yard.”

He added that he was extremely lucky as the dog could have seriously injured him. He has received medical attention and is recovering well.

Moodley wants this incident to serve as a warning not only to pitbull owners but all dog owners to ensure that their dogs are well-secured on their properties.

“If a child had been walking their pet dog, the situation could have been much worse,” he added.
