Radiant Diwali shows to entertain this Saturday

This year the joyous event is being hosted by the Port Shepstone Hindu Cultural Federation and the Shree Hanuman Sanathan Dharma Sabha Mandir.

As the Festival of Lights Diwali approaches, Port Shepstone is set to be full of vibrant colours and celebrations.

Port Shepstone Hindu Cultural Federation (PSHCF) and the Shree Hanuman Sanathan Dharma Sabha Mandir are holding two separate events this Saturday (26th).

Festivities for (PSHCF) will begin with a float procession and cultural activities through Port Shepstone CBD on Saturday at 09:00. Snacks and a light lunch will also be served.

The celebration continues at the Andhra Sabha hall in Lions Grove from 16:00 with a variety of entertainment, which includes a popular music band, sketches and cultural activities for young and old. Meals will also be provided.

“As this will be the main Diwali event for the South Coast, supported by many of the local temples and religious organisations, we are calling on local well-wishers and businesses to get involved in promoting and supporting our many cultures, one nation theme and thereby strengthening the unity in our diversity,” said PSHCF’s Selvan Chetty.

To make a contribution, contact PSHCF’s treasurer, Santhos Baskali, on 084 4407799.

* The Shree Hanuman Sanathan Dharma Sabha Mandir will host its Diwali celebrations at the mandir, also on Saturday from 16:00 to 23:00.

The main festivities will be held at the mandir from 16:00. The entertainment line-up includes talented musicians and dancers. Guest artist Mahan Sedhary, a musician, singer, drummer and comedian, will bring something different to the event. Also, locals will be treated to great music from DJ Theo Papli and Sheppie Nagara.

Hot meals and much more will be served, and guests can look forward to lucky draw prizes and gifts.

A fireworks display will be held at 21:30. For further information, contact Veena Lakhan on 067 0688282.
