Hospital blood drive nets donors

The target on the day was 200 units of blood.

Netcare Margate Hospital had a blood donation drive last Friday.

Hospital manager Sarah McKaw said they chose to do the drive on Valentine’s Day because they found it appropriate and that it went well with the red representing the South African National Blood Service.

“Most of all, it’s about giving to loved ones and about saving lives, and that’s what the blood drive is all about.”

McKaw said they had a target of collecting 200 units, and based on the number of people she had seen on the day, they were going to reach their target.

She said the 200th donor would receive a voucher for a weekend away for a family of four at the Wild Coast Sun.

She thanked the community for donating and the sponsors who made the drive a success.
