The weather service said the disruptive rainfall is expected over the south-eastern parts of KZN from tomorrow (Thursday) into Friday.

Batten down the hatches, a Level 6 weather warning has been released by the South African Weather Service (SAWS) for tomorrow (Thursday), with expected time frame from 17:00 until Friday midnight.
The areas affected are Ray Nkonyeni, Umzumbe and Umdoni municipalities.
SAWS said the disruptive rainfall is expected over the south-eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal from tomorrow into Friday, which may lead to flooding of roads and settlements, damage to infrastructure and mud-based houses.
A cold front is expected to pass through the eastern parts from tomorrow (Thursday) accompanied by a ridging high, resulting in persistent widespread showers and thundershowers over the south-eastern parts until Friday evening.
“Significant rainfall amounts are expected which may lead to flooding of roads and settlements, damage to infrastructure and mud-based houses,” said a statement from SAWS.
SAWS has identified the following likely risks of the heavy rain:
- Localised floods of roads, settlements, bridges, and rivers.
- Damage to mud houses and other poor structures.
- Dangerous road conditions due to water-logged roads and potholes.
- The probability of sinkholes in affected areas.
