WATCH | No sign of missing person off Silver Beach

An extensive search was launched for the missing man.

A local eyewitness reported seeing a man swept off the rocks, no longer to be seen near Silver Beach, Port Edward, on Tuesday this week.

National Sea Rescue Institute’s (NSRI) Port Edward duty crew and their rescue swimmers responded.

The NSRI rescue craft, Rescue 32 Alpha, was also launched.

Police, Saps K9 Search and Rescue and the Airtrack 101 helicopter joined the extensive sea and shoreline search.

“A floatation device was deployed into the water to establish a drift pattern to aid in the search efforts. Despite an extensive search, no signs of a missing person were found,” said John Nicholas, NSRI Port Edward station commander.

Nicholas also confirmed that there are no reports of a person missing.

Anyone with information that can identify the person who is suspected of going into the water can call Port Edward police station on 039 3115432.
