Human Rights Day seemed a perfect fit for the Stonecroft Ministries’ March meeting’s theme of ‘Know Your Identity’. It was well attended, considering it was on a public holiday.
John Blewitt, a respected and admired musician on the South Coast, opened with a warm, lyrical version of ‘Your Song’, which was clearly enjoyed by the audience.

He later performed a duet with Vanessa Howard-Trip, singing gospel song ‘10 000 Reasons’.
Makhosi Ntshangase, otherwise known as Sista Felas, is an award-winning fashion designer and business owner who brought her expertise and vibrancy to speak on ‘Wearing Your Personality’.
She selected individuals from the audience and, from their appearance, chatted about the personalities they were projecting, adding that how we present ourselves is important, especially as we mature in years.

She said that what we wear says a great deal about who we are. She stressed, however, that our true identity comes from God; it is in Christ, and that we should love our brothers and sisters in Christ.
The volume in the hall rose considerably at tea time as the members chatted and enjoyed each others’ company whilst savouring the tasty mini eats prepared by the Methodist Women’s Auxiliary.

Reverend Kevin Sprong, a retired minister from Scottburgh, achieved the difficult feat of addressing a serious issue: ‘Our Identity in Christ’, while also having the audience in gales of laughter.

He quoted the verse in Psalm 8, ‘that God created the moon and stars but what is man that God is mindful of him’, saying that God cares for us and although we may make mistakes, our identity is in Him.
The apostle Paul, who wrote that all of his attributes, and there were many, counted as nothing but to be in Christ.
The next Stonecroft meeting will be at Shelly Beach Methodist Church on Friday, April 25, at 09:30. The theme will be ‘Unconditional Love’.
