Sanctuary launch fast approaches

The launch will take place on Sunday, April 20, from 10:00 to 14:00 at the Nkomba Bird Sanctuary.

The Pennington Conservancy committee has decided to market the Nkomba Sanctuary as the ‘Nkomba Bird Sanctuary’.

Their efforts will focus on upgrading public services and making the sanctuary more family/children/birder-friendly.

They will add two more picnic sites and ensure trails are suitable for families, including grandparents, and school activities.

It has been acknowledged that public awareness of and accessibility to the sanctuary must be improved – this will include road signage.

Vegetation management will continue, and the old Circular Trail will be re-instated, encouraging walkers to enjoy Pennington’s natural beauty.

The launch will take place on Sunday, April 20, from 10:00 to 14:00 at the Nkomba Bird Sanctuary (entrance on Dolphin Drive).

Visitors will learn about birds, spiders and even go on a spider hunt. There will be Easter games and a word from the committee too.
