Critically ill patient airlifted in Scottburgh

Paramedics worked alongside doctors and nurses to help the critically ill patient.

Many Scottburgh locals questioned why a helicopter was spotted flying low in the residential area last Tuesday morning.

This came after an Air Mercy Service (AMS) helicopter was called in to airlift a patient.

IPSS Medical Rescue received a call to assist a critically ill patient at the Scottburgh Hibiscus Hospital.

Paramedics, together with doctors and nurses were able to successfully resuscitate the patient.

While medical personnel stabilised the patient, the AMS helicopter was activated to airlift the patient to a suitable facility for the further care she required.

The IPSS Medical Rescue team stated that paramedics are often called during resuscitations (especially at smaller facilities) because of their extensive experience and skills during emergency situations.
