Mpenjati Eco Festival set for June
Walks, talks and so much more are not be be missed at this year's second Mpenjati Eco Festival.
This year’s Mpenjati Eco Festival is set to be a memorable one-day outdoor event.
Diarise the date for Saturday, June 28. Gates open at 07:30.
On the back of last year’s successful event, the festival will firmly focus on the various attractions within the Mpenjati Nature Reserve and surroundings.
Hosted by the Mpenjati Honorary Officers (HOs) Group in partnership with Mpenjati Conservancy and assisted by Mzimkhulu HOs Group, the 2025 Mpenjati Eco-Festival will be based on the north bank of the reserve, with some activities in other areas within the reserve.
Anna Jordan, the chairperson of Mpenjati HOs, said the vision of the festival is to create awareness and knowledge of the importance of eco-friendly living and our contributions as everyday citizens to biodiversity protection and the intersections of social development, eco-tourism and community conservation.
“Our goal is to create engagement and inspire our communities to appreciate the value of wild places and to live more consciously and in harmony with our environments.”

The day will follow a structured programme of demonstrations, walks, talks, workshop activities, including several items for children.
Guest speakers and representatives from various conservation organisations and non-profits are participating in the festival. Included are interest and vendor stalls such as renewable technologies, sustainable and healthy living, and recycling.
Refreshments will be available for purchase. Alternatively, visitors can bring a picnic or use the braai areas to make it a full day.
The entrance fee to Mpenjati Nature Reserve is R40 for adults and R20 per child U12.
Activities are free, however, donations towards their projects are always welcome.
