Winter warmth for hospice patients

Blankets, beanies and scarves were made, and R5000 was raised.

The fourth annual community outreach knitathon was held at Amanzimtoti Methodist Church recently.

The day began with fellowship, followed by a fun session knitting squares that are then turned into blankets and donated to Khanya Hospice in Umkomaas.

Hospice’s accounts manager Elaine Trotter said that these blankets are for the patients, just in time for winter.

Aside from the blankets, beanies and scarves were made, and R5000 was raised.

“Our nurses and carers say the patients are so happy to receive the comfort and warmth the blankets brings them,” said Trotter.

The knitathon is organised by a team of women from the church, and is open to all who wish to join.
