Southern KZN premier cricketers lose to Harlequins

They finished out of the knockout places.

The Southern KZN team playing in the Castle Men’s Premier League lost to Harlequins away on October 17.

Southern KZN batted first and made 112-8 in 20 overs.

Top scorer was Nkosinathi Muthwa, who made 52 off 17 balls.

The only others to make double figures were Mikyle Bartle with 15 (24), Matthew Malan 12 (13) and Tyler Hogan 10 (20).

Juniors Karlo Jacobs and Sphephelo Mlambo, still in grades 9 and 8 respectively, managed a 10-run undefeated partnership for the eighth wicket – not earth-shattering, admittedly, but decent enough considering what had gone before them.

In response, Harlequins made 114-2 in 12.2 overs, with the wickets picked up by Jayden Scholtz and Josh Pillay.

They finished out of the knockout places and can now take a short break before the 50-over tournament starts in a few weeks’ time.
