Festive youth event inspires in Kelso
Some 28 children from Malangeni and 80 from Kelso participated in the festivities, engaging in a range of activities designed to inspire and entertain.
Gathering Together, a non-profit, celebrated Youth Day with a vibrant event that brought together young people from Malangeni and Kelso under the guidance of Success Seekers.
This initiative aimed to instil the importance of community support and connection among young people.
With a mission of demonstrating that ‘we are here for one another’, the event highlighted Gathering Together’s ongoing presence in the Kelso community, including the operational clinic and the essential Homework Club that supports local children.
Some 28 children from Malangeni and 80 from Kelso participated in the festivities, engaging in a range of activities designed to inspire and entertain.
Activities included modeling (showcasing the creativity and confidence of youth), Sarafina Dance (a lively performance that brought energy to the event), Youth Day speech (inspiring messages were shared to encourage the pursuit of dreams), tug of war, football matches and racing activities.
Gathering Together’s mission focuses on developing meaningful relationships and inspiring community members to enhance their quality of life. The Youth Day celebration was a testament to this mission, illustrating how collective efforts can create a supportive environment for young people.
As the team reflects on the event’s success, they encourage the community to continue supporting the youth.
