Top spot for Rob English at sports shooting competition in Oribi

The event saw a great turnout, with a total of 22 participants taking part in the shooting event.

The Alfred County branch of KZN Hunting Shooting and Conservation Association held its third shooting event of the year at Oribi recently.

The event saw a great turnout, with a total of 22 participants who competed in a Confederation of Hunting Associations of South Africa sports shooting competition.

The first target was a warthog target at 35m standing free hand, an impala target at 120m standing shooting off sticks, and a springbok target at 200m prone position.

The second event comprised of five steel gong targets, a metal target for precision shooting set out at various distances, from a realistic hunting position. These positions ranged from 150m to 225m.

“All the competitors were motivated to shoot and get to point with their shooting. Fantastic prizes were handed out and the first prize was a brand new NKS600 pump action shotgun generously sponsored by Luckys Port Shepstone.

The first overall position was won by Rob English, Donovan Nel took second place, and Ryan Wichman took third spot.

The association thanks the committee members for their dedication and effort in making the event a success. They also thank the sponsors and the Otto family for their generous prizes, which helped create enthusiasm among competitors.
