Tent City fundraiser this Saturday

Original art at bargain prices, potjiekos for just R20, and a chance to help families in need - don’t miss it!

The artists of local art club, Art by the Sea, are opening their hearts to the plight of residents in South Coast Tent City this Saturday (19th).

They will host a fundraising event at IsiVivane Art Gallery, Mbango Valley Association, Kent Road, Oslo Beach from 14:00 to 16:00.

Chairperson of Art by the Sea, Gordon Dinner, says that several original fine art paintings donated by the artists will be available for purchase from R200 to R600 – way below their standard prices.

Moreover, visitors will have the opportunity to feast their eyes on the world-class paintings of Munster artist Marianna Radley at her solo exhibition currently running at the gallery.

There will also be potjiekos and rice available at a bargain price of R20 per serving (or potato bake and salad for vegetarians).

The proceeds of the donated art works and the food will be handed over to Tent City. Since 2016, as a non-profit organisation, it provides shelter and care for over 120 adults and children.

As such the organisation is in constant need of food items – clothing, bedding, cash and basically anything which will make the lives of the residents more bearable.

The economic uncertainty contributed massively to joblessness and resultant homelessness, and thanks to this organisation, many families in dire straits found safe shelter.

Gordon calls on all locals with a passion for the wellbeing of fellow humans to come along and enjoy the afternoon with the artists, and in doing so, contribute with the effort towards relieving the plight of these unfortunate folks living in poverty.

There will be a collection point for non-perishable food and other items, should patrons wish to contribute. Charitable cash contributions towards running costs will also be welcomed.
