Oppi Kus ’25 draws record crowds and high praise

Electric vibes and tent-lifting performances made this year’s festival the best yet, says Shane Woolley of Margate Round Table 46.

Oppi Kus Musiekfees which was held last weekend has been hailed as the best yet, with bigger crowds and an atmosphere organisers described as absolutely electric.

Attendance figures show about 1 975 people, including vendors, staff and patrons enjoyed Friday night’s performances, while an impressive 2 550 turned up on Saturday night – beating last year’s turnout.

A quick-thinking move by the organisers saw a stretch tent erected on Saturday morning to keep festival-goers dry. “Putting up that tent saved the day and made sure everyone could keep the party going, rain or shine,” said Shane Woolley of Margate Round Table 46.

Dirk Bisschoff, lead guitarist of Prime Circle.

Woolley praised everyone involved, saying: “This was our best-run event yet. It went off without a hitch thanks to the fantastic companies, sponsors, service providers, and of course, the incredible artists whose performances really lifted the tent! A huge thank you to all the Tablers and 41ers whose hard work made this possible – and to every single person who bought a ticket and supported us.”

It was a fun evening for Marina van Niekerk (left) and Alexa Caldeira.

Organisers say the success is a testament to the festival’s growing popularity and strong community support.
