Bikers step in to help

The food drive helps those struggling in the community between Melville and Umtentweni.

The Bendigo Food Drive has received a welcome boost – thanks to a generous cash donation from the members of Ulysses Motorcycle Club.

Known for their camaraderie and community spirit, the club’s contribution will go a long way in supporting the initiative, which aims to distribute food parcels to 30 vulnerable families (76 individuals) on Friday, August 2.

“These bikers have big hearts and their support comes at just the right time – we’re so grateful,” said Maggie Sloan.

The food drive assists single mothers and fathers, pensioners, and families where the breadwinner has lost their job – people struggling to put food on the table.

Every month, Maggie collects contributions of vegetables, toiletries (toilet paper, toothpaste, sanitary pads, bath soap, roll-on, non-perishables (tinned food, macaroni, flour, tea, sugar, sandwich spread, powdered milk, butter, soup powder, oil, soya).

“But with so many families in need, every item truly helps,” said Maggie.
