Free sewing material available for women from Umzinto and surrounds

The programme by Al Jama-ah will allow women to create and sell goods to earn an honest income.

In celebration of Women’s Month, Al Jama-ah is relaunching its empowerment programme to support and uplift the community.

Free sewing material is available to women from Umzinto and surrounding areas to create, sell and earn.

“Whether you’re experienced or a beginner, this is an opportunity to take a step toward and be financially independent. Empowering women in our communities is not just a celebration – it’s a necessity,” said Al Jama-ah councillor Asghar Khan.

“I believe that when we uplift women, we uplift entire families and strengthen the fabric of our society. Launching this initiative is a powerful reminder that women deserve the tools, support and opportunities to lead, thrive and transform their communities, not just in August, but every day of the year.”

All those interested are welcome to visit the Al Jama-ah offices above Standard Bank in the Umzinto CBD to collect material. The office is open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 15:00.

To find out more, contact Khan on 079 5268674.
