Academic excellence against all odds for Shayur Dhaja of Park Rynie
Reflecting on his Master’s degree, he acknowledged the challenges of balancing work and family life, saying he thanks God and his parents for guiding him.
Park Rynie’s Shayur Dhaja has reached a major milestone at the age of 25, graduating with a Master’s degree.
This achievement not only symbolises personal triumph, but also marks a proud moment for his family and local community.
Born in Umzinto, he matriculated at Umzinto Secondary in 2017. Thereafter he attained his Bachelor of Commerce degree at IIE Varsity College in 2020. In 2021, he navigated to his Honours degree from UKZN.
In 2022, he enrolled for his Master’s degree, also at UKZN, titled ‘Evaluating strategies of consumer trust in e-commerce’ and completed it in 2024, with three certificates of merit.
His commitment to expanding his knowledge is further demonstrated through numerous other certificates.
Dhaja’s unwavering zeal to advance into the management echelon has persuaded him to continuously excel with pride. His pursuit of higher education reflects dedication to professional growth.

He began his career at Scottburgh High employed by the Department of Education. Thereafter, he moved to Transnet National Ports Authority where he initially engaged in catalytic projects at the Ports of Richards Bay and Durban, before transitioning into his current role as a marine financial officer and customer relations officer at Transnet, Port of Durban.
“I made it to Master’s level against all odds, and I am looking forward to attaining my PhD (Doctorate) at UKZN.”
