OPINION: So little respect for the dead at Margate cemetery

The author requests the relevant department to do something about this matter.

After many years of not visiting the Margate cemetery, words cannot describe the absolute shock and disbelief at the state of this cemetery.

What should be a sanctuary where the dearly departed rest in peace, it is now no more than a piece of veld, overtaken by long grass, weeds and bush. Surely, the upkeep of cemeteries is the responsibility of the local municipality?

Have they so little respect for the dead?

The tombstones, that have cost loved ones thousands of rands, are barely visible. Can the department tasked with maintaining this cemetery please do something about it.
