The dentist from the UK, who fell from a third-storey building window in Ramsgate, has been identified by police as Michael John Hartfield.
The incident occurred in Milton Road in the early hours of August 23.
Margate Saps has opened an inquest docket for investigation.
“Members of Margate police responded to a scene where paramedics were treating the man (Hartfield). He was transferred to a local hospital, where he was declared dead.” said police.
Initially, KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service responded to the incident. At the time, spokesperson Craig Botha said that emergency medical personnel were dispatched after reports of a person who had fallen through a third-floor window.
“On arrival, paramedics found that the patient had sustained critical injuries. “During transport to hospital, the patient’s condition deteriorated significantly, prompting paramedics to begin resuscitation efforts. Despite the dedicated efforts of our emergency medical team and hospital staff, the patient was declared dead at the hospital,” said Botha.
