Infrastructure improvements that support both economic and environmental goals were also discussed.
The US Consulate visited Ugu District Municipality last Wednesday.
Consul General Rebecca Gonzalves and Ugu Mayor Sikhumbuzo Mqadi convened to discuss economic development initiatives, including strategies to enhance local economic growth, attract investments and support small businesses sustainability efforts, as well as integrating sustainability into economic growth.
In a statement, Ugu said infrastructure improvements that support both economic and environmental goals were also discussed.

Municipal manager Vela Mazibuko emphasised the importance of exploring potential federal resources and programmes that could assist rural communities, including women, who are often neglected in terms of job opportunities and economic development.
The meeting sought to establish a collaborative framework for advancing both economic prosperity and environmental stewardship in Ugu.
