Citizen Science: How to use the iNaturalist App
iNaturalist is one of the easiest ways to help expand your knowledge of the nature world, while getting to know other naturalist in your community.
The Bendigo Conservancy is inviting nature lovers to take part in a free iNaturalist training session at Die Local in Southport on Sunday, September 21 at 14:00.
Well-known conservationist Paddy Norman will lead the session, showing participants how to use the iNaturalist app to record plants, insects and other organisms.
Every observation made through the app can contribute to the global biodiversity information facility, a resource used by scientists around the world.
Organisers are encouraging anyone with a cellphone camera to attend.
By learning to record biodiversity, citizen scientists can help build a valuable database for the KZN South Coast while also deepening their own knowledge of nature.
The training will also provide opportunities to connect with experts who can assist in identifying species.
Be sure to download the free iNaturalist app before attending.
