Prayer, praise and purity at Moral Retake
Teens could find honest answers about topics often considered taboo.
For 13 years, Freedom Gate Church in Margate has hosted a transformative youth conference centred on the message of purity for Christ’s sake.
Pastor Davin Guest explained that, this year, nearly 400 teenagers gathered to worship and explore biblical perspectives on sexual purity through dynamic teachings and interactive breakout sessions.
Speakers from Cityhill Church in Hillcrest and 3CI Church in Pretoria came together with the Freedom Gate team and shared powerful testimonies and led discussions in both large group gatherings and intimate small group settings.
Throughout the conference, teens had opportunities to worship passionately, pray for one another, receive ministry from the prayer team, ask difficult questions, and find honest answers about topics often considered taboo.
“This conference exists to intentionally break down the barriers that prevent open conversations about sexual purity. We recognise that sexuality is part of our world, and young people will inevitably seek answers somewhere,” said Guest.
He said that rather than leaving them to navigate these questions alone, the church has a responsibility to step forward and address these crucial topics.
“By creating a safe, Christ-centred environment, we can help young people understand God’s design for their lives, His purpose for sexuality, and how to navigate the cultural pressures they face with wisdom and faith.”
