Petition for a safer Marine Drive on South Coast

A protest is being planned in Margate soon.

The DA has launched a petition demanding safer roads, especially Marine Drive.

Ward 19 councillor Alan Bosch said some sections of Marine Drive has potholes, the ditch in Margate near the garage has become wider and the dips on the bridges are getting more dangerous.

He added that a protest is being planned in Margate soon.

“For the past few months we have been trying to get a solution from the KZN Department of Transport (DoT). It was going so well, but after the contractor had a problem with DoT, we all are affected. We cannot solve the problem between them, however, we are sitting here with incomplete, dangerous roads and it is affecting tourism and business.”

According to Bosch, as a result of DoT’s silence on the matter, a decision was taken to launch a petition.
