ANC monitors service delivery in Ugu
According to Mavundla, the RTT has also worked tirelessly to intervene in the protracted labour unrest in Umdoni Municipality, culminating in a peaceful resolution.
The ANC Tolomane Mnyayiza Regional task team (RTT) leaders discussed service delivery issues in Ugu District Municipality at a recent meeting.
RTT co-ordinator Nkazimulo Mavundla applauded the work of the KZN Department of Transport, in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, on the weekend of September 26.
“The department’s focused interventions on road safety, under the leadership of MEC Siboniso Duma, stand as a commitment to saving lives and reducingroad carnage caused by reckless and drunken driving. These efforts bring renewed hope to our communities that safer roads are possible when decisive leadership is exercised,” he said.
Mavundla said the ANC appreciates the progress on the Mzimkhulu River bridge project, which is a lifeline for thousands of residents who have endured difficulties for far too long. “We will monitor this project closely, ensuring that no further undue delays occur and that the people of Umzimkhulu receive the infrastructure that has been promised to them.”
According to Mavundla, the RTT has also worked tirelessly to intervene in the protracted labour unrest in Umdoni Municipality, culminating in a peaceful resolution.
Also, equally encouraging was the report presented to the RTT on the breakthrough achieved by Ugu in unlocking the Umtamvuna water scheme upgrade. “This project, undertaken with the cooperation of critical stakeholders including Eskom and neighbouring communities in the Eastern Cape, will forever change the living conditions of our people,” said Mavundla.
He stated that now the Umtamvuna water scheme has a capacity to service more than 200 000 residents, and is set to bring an end to years of hardship endured by households that have suffered without consistent access to clean water.
“It was joy and relief on the faces of the people of Ezinqoleni when clean water finally reached their taps. This moment is a reminder of why the ANC exists, to restore dignity, to uplift lives and to ensure that no community is left behind in the march towards a better life for all. It reaffirmed that despite the challenges we face, the ANC continues to stand as the people’s only genuine hope for transformation, development and inclusive service delivery,” said Mavundla.
He concluded that the RTT emerged from the meeting with renewed determination to strengthen its organisational machinery to accelerate the pace of service delivery to their communities. “We commit ourselves to building structures that are united and rooted among the people, while at the same time ensuring that our deployees in government respond to the pressing needs of communities with urgency, integrity and accountability.”
