Nature walk educates Umzinto learners
Activities included bio-monitoring to study the health of the local ecosystem and a nature scavenger hunt.
During the month of September, uMngeni-uThukela Water partnered with St Anne’s Primary School in Umzinto for an educational nature walk.
The group enjoyed a fun walk to the Golden Vale stream with much laughter, learning and a deep appreciation for nature.
There was tree planting and learners were educated on the importance of contributing to a healthier planet and greening the community.
With the assistance from the Department of Agriculture, a vegetable garden was started, teaching young learners about sustainable growing practices and the joys of cultivating their own food.
The day was packed with activities, including bio-monitoring to study the health of the local ecosystem and a nature scavenger hunt that kept everyone engaged and excited about discovering the wonders of the natural world.
The Umzinto Amanzi Champions were present and delivered an insightful session on water conservation which left learners inspired and informed.
The group is also grateful to those who sponsored fruit and water for this educational day.
